Nou ja, plat met een forse bobbel: de tuile du nord, of - vertaald - de 'noorderpan'. Rood en gesmoord, gewoon en geglazuurd, soms zelfs in felle [[kleur]]en: hele wijken uit de twintiger en dertiger jaren van de 20e eeuw zijn ermee getooid. In vergelijking met tal van andere machinale pannen is de tuile du nord heel simpel. Onder het bolle wel gaat de zijsluiting schuil en verder: gewoon plat. Alleen de kopsluiting is nog net herkenbaar aan twee halfronde uitsteeksels. Het gevolg is een strak dak. Voor alle afwijkende situaties zijn bijpassende hulpstukken nodig, zoals de knikpannen voor een [[mansardedak|gebroken dakschild]]. <br /> <br /> Een populaire dakpan, die in dezelfde tijd wordt toegepast, is de [[kruispan]]. Je kunt deze omschrijven als een tuile du nord met aan de onderkant in het midden een extra bobbel.
